An Australian surprise

The place I nearly left off the trip.

Hobart was almost a backup stop. It became the Australian city I most wanted to revisit.

Hobart was the Australia stop I nearly did not choose. Looking back, I am glad it made the itinerary.

Not the obvious pick.

I went in with fewer expectations than I had for other Australian cities. Hobart turned out to have a distinct atmosphere that was easy to enjoy at our own pace.

Between the waterfront, Tasmania’s landscapes and places such as MONA and the wildlife encounters, it felt unlike the larger cities on the trip.

The places you want to revisit.

Some destinations are worth seeing once. Others quietly stay on your list long after you leave.

Of the Australian cities we visited, Hobart is the one I find myself wanting to return to.
